Steve Clarkson takes on permanent chief executive role at OF&G

12th November 2025

OF&G (Organic Farmers & Growers) has announced the appointment of Steve Clarkson as permanent CEO, following a unanimous decision by the Board

Mr Clarkson has been serving as interim CEO since April, during which time he has overseen a period of transition as the certification body has strengthened its team with a series of recruitments.

A key figure within OF&G since 2002, Mr Clarkson held the position of Certification and Compliance Manager since 2009. His extensive knowledge of the organic industry, coupled with a robust understanding of OF&G’s strategic objectives, make him ideally placed to lead the organisation in its mission to promote sustainable farming practices and influence policy to support organic agriculture.

“I’m really excited to have this opportunity to build on OF&G’s 50 year heritage. It comes at a time when there is so much untapped potential for growth in the organic sector,” says Mr. Clarkson.

“There are some important developments taking place which I believe will lead to tremendous opportunities for our licensees and those looking to futureproof the way they farm. I look forward to working with the team to unlock these benefits.”

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), OF&G adhered to a formal recruitment process before confirming the permanent appointment of its CEO.

OF&G Chairman, Richard Thompson, expressed his support for Mr Clarkson’s appointment:

“We are delighted to confirm Steve will continue to fulfil the CEO role. His leadership during the interim period has proven invaluable, and the Board is confident he will continue to provide stability and direction needed to drive OF&G forward. Steve’s expertise is exactly what we need as we look ahead.”
