Farmers needed to save small abattoirs -
survey to make the case to government

Sustainable Food Trust, along with Soil Association, Rare Breeds Survival Trust and others, have just launched a survey aimed at livestock producers across the UK to find out more about the importance of an abattoir for their business, as well as the challenges they face in accessing abattoir services.

The information gathered through this survey will help build a case for supporting the smaller abattoir sector, particularly with regards to continuing small abattoir discount on inspection charges, and will also be useful for wider communication and campaigning.

It is essential that arguments are supported with evidence and data, the SFT hope to have responses from a wide range of farmers from across the UK.
