TV opportunity for organic farming family

Date Published: 25/07/2006

A young farming family is being sought to take part in a new BBC programme looking at how bacteria and other organisms can work alongside us to enhance our lives.

The programme will be part of a series to be filmed in late August and screened on BBC 3.

Below is a letter from one of the show’s producers, including his contact details for anyone interested in taking part:

Hi There,

My name is Toby Trackman, and I am an Assistant Producer at RDF, one the UK’s leading television production companies.

We are currently making a new series for BBC3, a science show with a fun and stylish twist and we are on the lookout for willing contributors.

This 8 part series will visit a variety of homes, from farms to family homes, bachelor pads to eco-homes, to look at everyday aspects of our lives, from living environments, cleaning routines, to skin care and pets to see how they effect us. Using cutting edge technology our team of experts will show how what is going on right under our noses in our homes.

We are very keen to feature a family that live a more eco-friendly lifestyle and run an organic farm. Can we show that the sanitised modern urban lifestyles aren’t necessarily the healthiest? Are we in danger of losing touch with our natural allies?

Over the course of two to three days our experts will work with the family to show what is happening in their homes at a micro-biotic level, and how they can improve their lifestyles accordingly.

Our team of experts will show how we live alongside bacteria and other organisms all the time, some good, some bad. Far from being a scientific horror show designed to expose how dirty we all are, it will show how our lifestyle choices impact our immediate environment, and how we can improve that.

If you have any questions about the project or RDF please do not hesitate to contact me. If you are potentially interested it would be great to meet you. We are planning on filming in late August, so it would be great if you could let me know before the 7th August.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Toby
