National Organic Cereals 2010 follows on from two highly successful events and will be held in Hampshire for the first time this year.

Organised by Organic Farmers & Growers Ltd, in association with Abacus Organic Associates, the day is focused on providing honest and useful information on organic arable production, which has the potential to be an important growth area in UK farming.

A key component of the day will be farm walks during which delegates will be able to examine around 40 organic trial crops planted for the event, including many varieties of wheat, triticale, oats, rye/spelt and malting barley.

Presentations by key figures in the farming, feed, seed and milling sectors will feature strongly, along with Q&A sessions and trade stands from a wide range of companies and industry bodies.

Triodos Bank has once again been announced as the headline sponsor, with sponsorship also coming from other leading companies and organisations including: Abacus Organic Associates; Organic Arable; HGCA; B&W Feeds; Robin Appel Ltd; Warminster Maltings; Norton Organic Grain.

OF&G Chief Executive, Richard Jacobs, said:”Our aim with this day is to bring together people who can explain organic arable as it is and demonstrate how the market is currently working to anyone who has contemplated organic as an option for their business. We’re not evangelists and we won’t be preaching to anyone, just providing the background for people to make informed decisions. This will be a ‘warts-and-all’ practical look at turning to organic arable production.”

More than 190 people attended last year’s event, held in Suffolk, leaving overwhelmingly positive feedback on their experience of the day.
