Lord Rooker visits OF&G

Organic Farmers & Growers was today delighted to welcome organic farming minister, Lord Rooker, to it’s Shrewsbury headquarters.

Lord Rooker attended a private meeting with OF&G Director and Patron, Charles Peers, it’s Chief Executive, Richard Jacobs and PR & Media Manager, Mark Waugh.

Also in attendance were Moss Jones and Marilyn James of Quality Welsh Food Certification (QWFC).

As the Minister of State (Lords) for Sustainable Food and Farming, organics comes under Lord Rooker’s remit.

The meeting was an informal chat, allowing for an informative exchange and an chance for all to discuss issues and opportunities currently facing the organic sector.

Following the meeting Richard Jacobs said: “We were very pleased to welcome Lord Rooker to OF&G and enjoyed the opportunity to air some of our opinions on various issues and to hear his.

“His willingness to come out and see us and his enthusiasm for the visit were very much appreciated. We hope to have the opportunity of continuing our dialogue in the future.”

Richard Jacobs and Marilyn James are among the latest appointees to the Government’s Advisory Committee on Organic Standards (ACOS), which advises ministers on matters concerning organic standards and regulation of the sector.
