Want to learn more about commercial organic growing?

Date: starts 7/10/17 Location: Greater Manchester

Apply for the Kindling Trust’s four day course in Greater Manchester this autumn.

We are serious about getting more people into commercial organic food growing, and we are looking to support people who are serious about doing it too! Each autumn we run a four-day Commercial Organic Growers course – offering people an amazing training opportunity to learn how to set up an organic food growing business from the growers themselves.

Kindling is working to create a more sustainable food system for Greater Manchester. We’ve established a network for sustainable food initiatives (Feeding Manchester), a Land Army volunteer force to support local organic growers, and FarmStart – an incubator programme for brand new growers. We’ve also helped incubate and nuture Manchester Veg People and Veg Box People, two co-operative enterprises helping grow the market for organic local growers and increasing access to great healthy veg for all!

So we are now looking to support and grow more commercial organic growers to supply these buyers and others such as Unicorn Grocery and local Farmers Markets and box schemes.

“Informative and inspirational, we’d highly recommend it to others looking to develop their understanding of commercial growing”. Course participant Jennie Savage.

The course will take place at 3 different growing sites on the 7th, 8th, 21st and 28th October and costs £120 (including VAT). It’s taught by experienced growers from Climate Friendly Food at Fir Tree Farm, Glebelands City Growers and FarmStart

The course covers the key areas for setting up and running a food growing enterprise The deadline for applications is 17th September 2017 – for details on how to apply please contact: helen@kindling.org.uk.

Having completed the introductory course, participants then have the option of progressing to FarmStart, a year-long training and incubation scheme for new organic growers, currently run at our Stockport site.
