Bluetongue vaccination update
Date Published: 24/04/2008
We are now receiving a number of calls regarding the use of the soon to be available bluetongue vaccination. OF&G Certification Manager, Stephen Clarkson, explains the situation:
“The bluetongue vaccine is a vaccine that can be administered to both sheep and cattle.
“It can be given to organic/converting animals without jeopardising their status.
“If you wish to use the vaccine you must update the Animal Health Plan justifying the need to treat your animals.
“Any use must be recorded with all the relevant information in the Veterinary Treatment Record.”
